Bush may be anti-abortion, but he’s not pro-life

FOR some time now, Rónán Mullen has been writing articles in support of George Bush.

Bush may be anti-abortion, but he’s not pro-life

His latest contribution reveals why he is such a zealous supporter - President Bush is anti-abortion whereas his opponent, Senator John Kerry, is pro-choice (Irish Examiner, October 27).

Unfortunately, Mr Mullen fails to mention that while the President is indeed anti-abortion he is certainly not pro-life.

With 152 executions to his name, President Bush holds the gruesome record as the US governor who has sanctioned the most such killings in history.

While the Catholic Church also supports the death penalty (Catechism, paragraph 2267) it is likely that Senator Kerry, an enlightened Catholic, would work to abolish this barbaric method of justice.
