Can you trace my artistic ancestor?

MY great-grandfather, John Joseph McDonald, lived in the Kent area in the early 1900s, having moved there from Co Cork.

Can you trace my artistic ancestor?

He did a lot of artwork, including portraits of the king, Gladstone, Darwin and the vicar of Kippington, Sevenoaks. He also did carving, repousse (brass and precious metals embossed by hand) and some leatherwork as well.

He made a two-foot circular plaque of Queen Victoria for the village hall in Ightham, won first prizes at the arts and crafts exhibition at Malling, Kent, in November 1910, and first prize at the arts and industries exhibition at Hildenborough, Kent, in December 1911.
