FF should break out of its golden circle
One can only be amazed at this extraordinary step by Fianna Fáil.
It demonstrates that what little the party may have learned from tribunal revelations has been quickly forgotten in its lust for power.
The Government is supposed to make decisions for the benefit of the people and the nation that it serves.
Such a contemptible scheme as suggested by FF only serves to breed elitism, distrust of the public service, further alienate weaker sections of society and ordinary people from the decision-making process and create a cloud of suspicion around Government actions.
Ministers are already well paid by the exchequer from taxes and the public must not be forced to pay twice to access state servants who are there supposedly to serve them.
The proposed FF scheme is bribery by another name and should be abandoned.
Government is accountable to all the people, and not to a small elite. Wiser counsel must prevail.
