Question of standards

IN response to the letter entitled ‘Prisoner abuse violates international law’ from George Bradley (Irish Examiner, May 24), at no time did I condone the actions of the small number of guards who were abusing prisoners in Iraq.

I did make the point in my letter of May 13 that we are prosecuting the violators and that we do act to a higher standard in the end.

The hypocrisy of those who condemn the US while ignoring worse abuses by others is quite clear, and that is what I wrote about.
