One man's war

THE controversy over a possible war against Iraq has highlighted one very important thing: when one man, the British Prime Minister, can decide without having to ask the people or their elected representatives to take the country to war – and maybe to its destruction – then it proves that the democratic government people believe they have is just a sham.

It’s the a same in Ireland, by the way, with Bertie Ahern and the Partnership for Peace (or NATO, as I would call it) letting US war planes land at Shannon.
