Building on beauty

I WISH to compliment Mary Leland on her excellent article (Irish Examiner Property, October 8) on the proposed development of 1,500 houses in the grounds of Dunkettle House and the adjoining lands of Ballinglanna, Glanmire, near Cork city.

This development would destroy some of the most beautiful landscape in Co Cork. This land was rezoned two years ago by our public representatives despite the fact that local residents pleaded with those they had elected not to do so.

So much for democracy.
