PDs are not right-wing fundamentalists

IT is unfair of Paul O’Brien to label the PDs as “right-wing fundamentalists” and “for big business” in his coverage of the party’s annual conference (Irish Examiner, April 11).

PDs are not right-wing fundamentalists

If he had attended the launch of the Young Progressive Democrats’ campaign at conference entitled “Dispelling the Myths about the Progressive Democrats,” he would have seen us vigorously rejecting the lies he is spreading about our party. This campaign called on the electorate to look at our record in government and make up their own minds.

If the PDs are “right wing fundamentalists” or “for big business,” why did they introduce the carer’s allowance and the minimum wage? Why did we campaign in government to ensure that workers earning the minimum wage don’t have to pay a single cent in tax?
