GIVEN the pleas of the IEI, the head of the IDA, IBEC, et al for a continued supply of “well educated school leavers”, may I implore of our Government a few actions?

Scrap the discredited benchmarking report and pay teachers and lecturers well, grant them favourable conditions of work and fund schools and colleges properly.

By these measures, the Government may begin again to attract the highest calibre of graduates in the land to enter jobs in the education sector.
