Townies back the farmers

THE level of support that was displayed to members of ICMSA during its continuous picket outside Government Buildings recently was very encouraging and much welcomed.

It was clear from the reaction of members of the public that there was an understanding of the crisis currently facing farmers and a huge amount of support for farm families.

It is very heartening to note that any suggestions of a divide between urban and rural communities are unfounded and this was very much evident in the support shown by the public in cities and towns throughout Ireland during the two weeks of farmer protests. On behalf of ICMSA I would like to thank the citizens of Dublin in particular, many of whom called by with support and hospitality during our continuous picket.
