A different species of jellyfish

AS an observer of jellyfish on Kerry beaches and at the risk of attack from swarms of jellyfish experts, I humbly beg to differ from John Leech of Irish Water Safety (Irish Examiner, July 13) regarding the species of jellyfish on these beaches.

A different species of jellyfish

I believe the jellyfish are not lion’s mane but are, in fact, compass jellyfish (Chrysaora hysoscella).

Lion’s mane are quite different in appearance and more venomous than compass jellyfish.
