Benchmarking rises necessary

BENCHMARKING is a joke. It requires teachers to accept abuse as - part of their job description and all public servants to accept pay increases below inflation.

The new spin is that this is too expensive for the government to pay even though it was the government's idea.

If such cutbacks in educational salaries continue, where will we find the well-educated workforce to fuel the Celtic Tiger?
