CONGRATULATIONS on your recent leader in which you laid the blame for the breakdown of the negotiations in the North at the door of the DUP.

If anyone should apologise to the people of this island, it is Ian Paisley for his sectarianism and incitement to hatred and violence over the past 35 years.

However, the politicians and some of the media in the Republic earn no bouquets for their conduct. As for Michael McDowell, the best we can do is afford him the charity of our silence.
