Writers’ champion worthy of honour

In dealing with his contribution to Irish literature, your writer omitted to mention that Marcus founded Irish Writing, the Magazine of Contemporary Irish Literature, while still residing in Cork in the late 1940s.

He co-edited the magazine with the late Terence Smith, who then worked on the editorial staff of the Cork Examiner. It was published quarterly by Trumpet Books of Adelaide Street, where Mr Marcus’ father had a business.
