Phone subscriber still awaiting an explanation

HAVING dispensed with Eircom two years as a phone subscriber, I got a bill out of the blue from them with a thank you letter saying they were delighted that I had rejoined them.

I have failed so far to find out where they got the permission to change from the provider I was with back to them.

Having phoned them several times, a woman finally told me if they ring your home to invite you to return to them as your provider, it doesn’t matter who answers. They will give them their patter anyway - and ask if it’s all right to reconnect. The person paying the bill may be the last to know, but that doesn’t matter to Eircom because they have made another ‘catch’.
