Plea for the Congo

AT a well-attended public meeting in Cork on June 26, organised

the Cork Anti-War Campaign, those present called on the Government to use its influence with the governments of Uganda and Rwanda, and other African countries, to ensure that they do all in their power to resolve the conflict in the Ituri region of the Congo.

The Government was also urged to ensure that the issue remains on the international agenda, particularly through Ireland's EU presidency in 2004.
