Amateur soldiers and Christian warriors

TO my knowledge neither George Bush nor Tony Blair has had military experience — still less, experience of war.

I wonder whether politicians understand military matters sufficiently to be entrusted with overall control and command, with the power to declare war especially. After all, we would not hand a gun to a child.

Secondly, I note Mr Bush claims to be a ‘born again’ Christian while Mr Blair is known to be all but Catholic. Tory leader Ian Duncan Smith is Catholic and fully supports the war. Heaven protect us from believers! Blessed are the atheists, agnostics and protestors, for they shall be called the children of God.
