Lower the flag only for national tragedies

THE Government ordered the national flag put at half mast to commemorate the dead in the London terrorist attacks.

While I sympathise with the people of London, and condemn utterly the acts of the attackers, I do not believe the situation warrants the lowering of our national flag.

Condolences should be offered, along with expressions of sympathy and support, and any aid we can give in apprehending the perpetrators will of course be given freely.
