AS Todd Martin reported (Irish Examiner, March 6), the target to cut world hunger in half by 2015 will not be met.

Corrupt regimes send millions to the grave

This is because neither the international community nor the corrupt governments of the Third World care enough about the plight of the poor to do much about it.

Despite high-level international conferences, world food summits and fine talk, the fact remains that, in this world of plenty, hundreds of millions of people go to bed each night hungry.
