Keep the focus on the real killers

AS A supporter of the Good Friday Agreement and the maximum nationalist unity needed to build upon it, I am extremely disappointed at the SDLP’s recent silly attack on Martin McGuinness, which descended to the level of British right-wing, trashy, Tory tabloids.

Keep the focus on the real killers

The Bloody Sunday tribunal was supposed to be about how and by whom the 14 dead victims were murdered, not about who was in the IRA then. Indeed it would be foolish to reveal this information as the people named and their relatives would be targets for the still-active loyalist death squads.

When Martin McGuinness pointed out that the media and British soldiers’ lawyers were trying to divert attention away from the British army killings and onto Derry republicans, he was accompanied by many of the victims’ relatives.
