Let us pray for our priests

IT is time to reflect on the accusations (mostly truthful, I’d say) that have been made against the Catholic Church in Ireland.

We need to pray daily for priests of every rank in the church.

The relatively small number under investigation are not representative of priests in general. These good men are suffering terribly because of the actions of the few. Let us pray for the mentally and spiritually ill priests who carried out crimes against vulnerable children who have suffered ever since.

On the other hand, it is evident that the national media is waging a vendetta against the Church.

Let the media examine its collective conscience and see clearly how it has contributed to sexual sin in Ireland.

Why crucify a poor archbishop in his late seventies when it would appear he did the best he could. Let’s be loving towards the church,

Joe Ryan,

Main Street,

Oola,

Co Limerick.
