Byrne’s miracle

DAMIAN BYRNE believes that the Good Friday Agreement has been a failure because it was a ‘compromise’ and failed to resolve ‘once and for all the crucial issues of sovereignty and democracy that went to the heart of the conflict’ (The Irish Examiner, August 1).

He says that sectarian killings will continue until what he calls ‘a final settlement’ is reached.

This is the philosophy of the 32 County Sovereignty Committee. Will Mr Byrne please explain how his ‘final settlement’ (a sinister euphemism for a united Ireland) is to be achieved and how it will miraculously bring an end to sectarianism in Ireland?
