Death sentence is appalling

WE the undersigned are appalled at the death sentence passed down to Amina Lawal, whose crime was adultery.

This sentence offends against humanity and is in breach of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, of which Nigeria is a signatory.

We request that the sentence be withdrawn immediately and that the basic human rights of persons who find themselves in a similar situation be respected.
