Many people are not listening to SSIA gurus

HARDLY a day goes by without a politician or a financial guru spouting advice on the radio about how best we can spend our SSIA windfalls.

Some of us, we hear, are going to buy new cars; others will take exotic vacations and more will choose to have home extensions built.

The less-well-off are being told to invest the proceeds in a pension scheme so they won’t be dependent on the minimum State pension.

Surely these arrogant, well-heeled advisers must know that many people had no money to invest in SSIAs and are more concerned with paying rent, bills and debts, as well as feeding and clothing themselves and their families.

Their bonus is that they won’t have to stay awake all night worrying about how to spend their payout.
