Feeling the heat from the pro-Israeli lobby

I EXPRESSED the view (Irish Examiner Letters, March 19) that the spirit of Christ might be found among poor and downtrodden Palestinians.

What an interesting assortment of invective my little letter drew from the Israeli lobby on March 21.

Yanky Fachler berated me for thinking too much of Christ and too little of George Bush’s policies.

Maerton Davis seemed to insinuate that because I disapproved of Israeli oppression I must therefore be some kind of supporter of Palestinian Arab suicide murderers.

Rochelle Magidson appears to think that I imagine people of Jewish faith to be “the offspring of the devil”.

I thank these pro-Israeli correspondents for their wholly unreasonable contributions. Their letters suggest much more eloquently than I could what life might be like for a poor Palestinian living under Israeli occupation.
