Put an end to US troops’ use of Shannon
We are led to believe that the revenues and jobs generated by cooperating with our US benefactors are worth the neglect of traditional values and conscience. Tens of thousands of US troops, as well as weapons, continue to flow through Shannon.
Now, in the aftermath of the London bombings, the Taoiseach assures us that Shannon is not on the list of Islamic extremists.
Even those of us who have discarded principle in favour of financial gain must recognise that any incident at Shannon Airport could be a disastrous blow for tourism and could stop the Irish economic miracle in its tracks.
