Drift netting threatens salmon stocks and tourist industry

SALMON angling, to be of any interest to the local or tourist angler, requires an abundance of salmon to be present to have any chance of success with rod and line.

Rod angling is the most inefficient method of capture when compared to any activity by those engaged in the commercial sector.

The fish has to be enticed to take a fly, lure or bait into its mouth, and even then there is no guarantee of setting the hook, let alone landing a fish.
