Gardaí protect our children

THE Rape Crisis Network Ireland (RCNI) would like to congratulate the gardaí on their intensive and continuing effort to track down internet child pornography users.

The RCNI was delighted to learn gardaí have joined forces with the British police in a campaign to track paedophiles using such websites.

Increasingly we are being force-fed the idea that acceptance of pornography is part of a larger movement towards sexual liberation and freedom.

Where is the freedom for the child who is degraded, humiliated, abused, raped and possibly even murdered?

Where is the freedom for the child who is violated in this way and who then has that appalling abuse videoed, photographed and sold as entertainment?

Pornography exploits and terrorises children. Where is the liberation in that? We are grateful to the gardaí for their excellent, painstaking work and their commitment to bringing users of child pornography to justice.
