Deasy’s breathtaking display of arrogance

THE speed and decisiveness of the Fine Gael leader’s handling of the smoking affair in the Dáil bar is to be commended. The arrogance of John Deasy, TD, is breathtaking.

As a member of the Oireachtas with responsibility for justice in a possible alternative government, his actions were astounding and ignorant. To treat bar staff in the Dáil in such a dismissive manner is beneath contempt.

It is my understanding that there is a substantial monetary penalty on conviction for smoking in a non-designated area, so I await Mr Deasy's prosecution for blatantly breaking the law or does parliamentary privilege extend to the Dail's watering hole?
