Government should free the Rossport Five

IT is a very sad day for Ireland when a multinational giant like Shell Oil thinks it is in a position to exercise some kind of divine right to ride roughshod over the good and decent farmers of Rossport, Co Mayo.

It is even worse to see our Government wash their hands of it by saying it is a matter for the courts.

Can they not for once defend their own citizens by calling for the immediate release of the five innocent men? That would be leadership, instead of constantly giving in to these multinationals which keep putting profits before the people’s wishes.
