‘No’ vote would show up GAA bigotry

I HOPE the GAA does not suspend Rule 42 today so that the rest of Europe can see how bigoted they are.

‘No’ vote would show up GAA bigotry

Yes, they built a fine stadium, but they were given €110m of taxpayers’ money to help them do it.

They - and especially the Cork county board - should be ashamed of themselves. Instead they should be promoting respect for all sports among young people and taking a firm stand against those who start or take part in pitch brawls.

I have no time for the people at the top of the GAA. I encourage my children to play all games, including GAA, not just for their physical benefit but to broaden their minds and not to take any notice of grown-ups who are stuck in the past. For GAA players, on the other hand, I have great respect. They give their all to a sport they enjoy, while they suffer broken bones and missed days at work for nothing in return.

IF GAA delegates vote to change Rule 42, miles of barbed wire will have to be erected in Croke Park to keep the rival supporters of other sports apart.

The stadium would never be the same again. Changing Rule 42 could bring more problems than it would be worth.
