Frightening invasion of individual liberties

The EU moves, led by our Justice Minister Michael McDowell, among others, to log all electronic communications by individuals represents a frightening invasion of privacy.

The surveillance of all phone calls, fax, computer and text communications is an attack on the very basis of a free society and profoundly degrades each individual member of it.

The minister’s party leader, Mary Harney, and the Taoiseach must make sure that Mr McDowell respects the rights of his Irish co-citizens.
