EU doesn’t need a chief prosecutor

I STRONGLY support the Government’s opposition to the setting up of a European public prosecutor. This is a sensible and correct political position.

The Government has stated that no convincing or compelling case has been made to date for such an appointment, which would not respect the different legal traditions of the member states of the European Union.

EU states should move mutually to recognise each other’s legal systems, rather than attempting to create common legal rules.
