Give us the recycling that we pay for

Mallow UDC recently wrote to all residents informing us of a tag refuse system.

One tag per bag and two tags per wheelie bin.

The last I paid to the UDC was for €165.

If I put out my bin each week, I estimate a cost of more than €400 per year.

Already I recycle all paper, cardboard, glass and drink cans.

A large part of my remaining refuse consists of plastic bottles, milk cartons and food waste.

The UDC seems to be lagging behind other councils in the provision of recycling facilities.

If they are to justify such a massive increase, a better recycling service needs to be provided.
