IMB was unaware of court date

I REFER to the editorial (Irish Examiner, July 20) regarding the striking out of cases at the District Court in Tralee on Monday July 18 due to the non-appearance in the court of the Irish Medicines Board (IMB).

I can confirm that this court date was not communicated to the IMB or its legal representatives. The IMB has no motive or reason not to attend in court in any case where it has instituted proceedings and invested considerable time and resources in producing a book of evidence.

All summonses relating to this case have now been reissued and the matter will be dealt with in the courts in due course.
