These are surprisingly turbulent times for the education sector, which has been prominently featured in the news lately for different reasons, none of them positive.

Just a few weeks ago, RTÉ documentary Leathered outlined cases of physical abuse in our schools going back decades, while Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary’s dismissal of teachers at a Fine Gael function last week remains a live talking point in the general election campaign.
