Irish Examiner view: Politicians are living in 'cloud cuckoo land' 

The Department of Justice and An Garda Síochána are doing their best to make the streets safe but people have no appetite for politicians denying the evidence of their own eyes

It is a perennial problem for governments. Within the bubble those in power can convince themselves they are succeeding, that progress is being made, that their achievements are being noted.

Outside that bubble, however, the public may have a very different view of the administration’s competence.
