Deaths are a reminder that the roads can be lethal

The deaths of three women in their 70s in a car collision in Co. Limerick on Thursday is a tragic reminder that it is not only young people who are vulnerable on the road.
The tragedy was made all the more poignant by the fact that one of the victims of the crash was the sister of former minister for finance Michael Noonan, who was travelling with two friends to Listowel Writers’ Week. Less than 24 hours later, a young, male pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident at Whitehall in north Dublin.
