Trump mocks Kavanaugh accuser: Attack shows vile character

It is all too easy to dismiss US President Donald Trump as an ignorant, crass buffoon, whose comments, tweets, and rambling speeches provide great hilarity and topics for ridicule.

But his attack on Dr Christine Blasey Ford, openly mocking the woman who has accused his supreme court nominee of sexual assault, shows what a vile, vicious, and dangerous character he really is.

Acting like a stand-up comic, Mr Trump openly mocked the university professor who has accused Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in the summer of 1982. He joked about her inability to remember the encounter and recall details surrounding the night of the alleged attack.

It is hardly a surprise to learn that Mr Trump is a misogynist; after all, ‘fat’, ‘pig’, ‘dog’, ‘slob’, and ‘disgusting animal’ are just some of the names thathe has called women.

Yet, in his cartoon caricature of Prof Blasey Ford, he has surpassed himself. It marked an aggressive change of tactics after Mr Trump showed restraint towards Prof Blasey Ford, calling her a “very credible witness” following her senate testimony against Mr Kavanaugh last week.

Mr Trump is too stupid and too ignorant to understand that such taunts are part of the reason survivors of sexual assault are afraid to go public. He has already shown himself to be unworthy of the office of US president. This tawdry display proves him unworthy of the American people.
