Be honest about our complicity - Magdalene survivors
In a society happy to take refuge in secrecy, an honest reckoning does not come easily. Myth or evasion, bullying or all-trampling corporate self-preservation often block a warts-and-all recognition of reality. This is not without consequences: wrongs fester, division deepens, and victims are further victimised by indifference or calculated denial.
Last month marked the 30th anniversary of one of the events that changed Ireland utterly.
