Insurance costs - Government must curb compo-culture

Amid warnings that up to 60,000 jobs are at risk, it is an issue that demands urgent government attention.

Dire predictions have come from one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs who is now considering expanding his business interests abroad rather than in Ireland. Members of the legal profession bear much blame for this scenario, especially those who engage in engaging in ambulance chasing, encouraging clients to pursue insurance cases on a no-foal no-fee basis. Allegedly, in one instance, a solicitor bribed a client to take a case, so confident was he of winning. Such behaviour is intolerable.
