Garda scheme - Force deserves best protection

ANY measures which will afford the gardaí greater protection in the course of their duties will be welcomed, especially considering the unacceptably high incidence of assaults members experience.

Estimates from the Garda Representative Association put the number of assaults on gardaí at around 900

annually. Assaults are on the increase and the nature of the assaults is becoming increasingly serious.
