Bullying at school, or alleged bullying, which was the subject of a case before Cork Circuit Court yesterday, is a serious problem that simply cannot be made to disappear.

Even though the alleged offence happened eight years ago and the plaintiff has now left school, the fact that it became a matter for a court of law should give educational authorities and the teachers’ unions serious pause for thought.

This particular case, in the course of the action, was struck out after the parties were given a short adjournment for discussions, which led to an agreement being reached.
