Garda Reserve - Minister and gardaí must act together

The meeting of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) in Killarney today has a range of motions before it in relation to Justice Minister Michael McDowell’s plans to introduce a garda reserve.

Twenty-three of the 28 branches of the AGSI have tabled motions protesting against the reserve.

Motions range from continued opposition to outright non-co-operation, which would bring the minister and commission into conflict with the vast majority of the force.
