Time to really make illegal polluters pay

THE Green Party yesterday presented a petition, bearing thousands of signatures, calling on Environment Minister Dick Roche to reform the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The party has also insists that such reform would be an indispensable demand before it would become involved in any coalition.

The people appointed to the EPA do not have a proper range of environmental experience, especially with a non-government organisation. The agency would obviously benefit if its personnel had a broader background and more dedicated functions.
