Gardaí must get specialist training

GIVEN the dangers of garda emergency work, patrol cars will inevitably be involved in a certain amount of crashes.

But the revelation that a garda vehicle has been involved in a crash every single day for the past five years is mind-boggling.

Even more surprising is the admission that despite the extremely hazardous nature of the job many gardaí receive no special training beyond that of a person on a full driving licence.
