Garda review - Overhaul of force must be carried out

THE first official reaction of grassroots gardaí to the web of lies, cover-ups and negligence exposed by the Morris Report on the Donegal division brings home forcefully its shattering impact on the morale of the force.

Under the headline “time to move on”, the current issue of the Garda Review makes clear that the “vast majority of members of the Garda Síochána who are doing a difficult job in difficult circumstances regret very much that the force is cast in this shocking and unsavoury position”.

No member, it adds, likes to see the good name and reputation of the force being sullied by what went on in Donegal.
