Credibility of EPA seriously damaged

The behaviour of the Environmental Protection Association (EPA) in the wake of the caustic soda spillage in Cork harbour is a cause for serious concern.

It is not an overstatement to say that the agency’s credibility has been seriously damaged as a result.

First it decided not to make the public aware of the spillage from the ADM factory, which happened just after midnight on Sunday, July 3, because it felt there was no danger to public health.
