Tourism survey - High prices problem has to be tackled

The latest tourism figures produced by Bord Fáilte make for mixed reading. The number of tourists visiting this country is up on last year, but the number of people staying here is down.

The figures indicate some growth in the numbers visiting from mainland Europe and North America, while those coming from Britain are also slightly ahead of this time last year.

But hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs are suffering from a major decline in business.
