It was inevitable that the Barron family would sue the State in light of the circumstances of the death of cattle dealer Richie Barron, as revealed in the second Morris Report.

Tragic though Mr Barron’s untimely death was, the trauma has been compounded by the travesty perpetrated by certain gardaí which has left the family without closure on the cause of death.

For that, and the anguish and distress that was visited on them gratuitously by the gardaí and therefore vicariously by the State, Nora Barron, her children and immediate family are entitled to an apology from Justice Minister Michael McDowell and Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy.
