Not for the first time, Barnardos and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, are echoing public concerns amid reports that a convicted child sex abuser was driving a school bus.

While it is vital to guard against a witch-hunt scenario, information should be recorded about people who do not have a criminal conviction for child abuse but are identified as posing a possible risk.
